Of course, most think of Armageddon when they think of Revelation times, or End Times, but it begins with the Warning Signs, or Birth Pains. Jesus spoke of these times that we’re in saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you, For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” Matt. 24:4-8
Certainly, we’ve had difficult times in the past with wars, famines, pestilences and earthquakes, but what makes these times unique are the global changes that prepare us for the events depicted in Revelations, and the likelihood that the growing pattern of these events happening today have a broader world changing impact globally in our near future as comparable to the times of the World Wars.
Yet is it all about war? No. Does Jesus tell us about these things to warn us of impending doom, or is it more about the why of the coming times? Should our focus be on the fear of dying, or should we wake up to the spiritual death that the world has embraced while we have formed our safe and hidden support groups to complain about it? Even we, with faith, are dulled and many Christians live together before getting married, and excuse behaviors that the Bible has warned against. Then if we do warn of those sins, we do so without love, and don’t offer the option of redemption to those we find reprehensible
Jesus tells us of these times, because Revelations is coming and we shouldn’t want even our worst enemies to go through the coming seven years of wrath. We should take a good look around us and ask ourselves, “How many of those we know would stay here when Christians are taken up to join Jesus in the sky?” And this should embolden us to get the evangelizing started. Many of us are silent still, including myself, because we’re afraid of being judged as uncool, intolerant, judgmental, but we should instead be thinking of saving souls and the great commission. We still have time because much of what is necessary to prepare the way for the anti-Christ is not in place yet, but this blog is where we can discuss what we’re hearing and keep a pulse on the birth pains. If it happens as these words suggest, the signs will grow in intensity and in frequency as it gets closer to the Lord’s coming which will come “as a thief in the night”, which means no matter how close we observe the signs, we won’t know exactly when it will happen, so we should behave now as though it could be tomorrow.
Jesus spoke of that readiness when He said, “And at midnight a cry was heard; ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.” Matt 25:6-10
A call to arms! But not to fight, but to save! May we help each other to have our lamps ready for the coming of the bridegroom, our Lord Jesus Christ!
